Lighting design

Rolf Zavelberg's light-installations open the viewer a wide horizon of associations. This can happen both with static and with changing light scenarios (PDF brochure | slide show & videos on rolfzavelberg.de)

He has a strong feeling for spaces and atmospheres, and this allows him to adapt to the special circumstances of very different places. He allows the already present, perhaps hidden beauty to appear literally in a new light.

During concerts, his "light for listening" changes continuously, inspired by the music, by the moment. In this way, he creates light-atmospheres to which the musicians also react. The audience finds itself inside a "Gesamtkunstwerk".

Rolf Zavelberg uses very different media and materials to create his compositions of light and shadow. He avoids the use of noisy technologies, such as spotlights with cooling fans, so that his work is very well suited for musical presentations which depend on, or work with, stillness.
